PLAN BEFORE THE FIRST CUT

Small tools. Clearer decisions.

Work out material quantities, check assumptions, and take a better question to your supplier.

Sheet-area estimator

Estimate an area-only minimum for identical rectangular parts. Enter every dimension in the same unit.

Enter dimensions to estimate.

Part width × length × count ÷ sheet area, with your allowance, rounded up. This is a lower bound, not a cut optimizer: grain direction, saw kerf, trimming, defects and packing can require more sheets. A rotation fit check only rules out individually oversized parts; it does not create a layout.

Edge-band length estimator

Count the short and long edges you will cover on each identical part.

Enter dimensions to estimate.

(Width × short-edge count + length × long-edge count) × part count, plus your allowance. Add supplier roll rounding separately. Check band width, actual panel thickness, adhesive system and application instructions; no roll size or trim allowance is assumed.
